The 6 Signs That Your Bathroom Plumbing Needs Repairing

Your bathroom goes through a lot of wear and tear over the years. From the bathtub to the toilet, the plumbing is one of the most essential parts of your bathroom. While regular maintenance can greatly help, there are 6 signs that could mean it is time for plumbing repairs.
Sign 1: Knocking Pipes
If you start hearing your pipes knocking during your shower or while you are running the sink, you have a plumbing problem on your hands. This knocking can have several causes including loose valves in the pipe system, high water pressure, or loose support straps. The last two can be especially damaging since they can cause the pipes to jerk and shift out of place. If left unfixed, you will soon find yourself with a leak or with a bend pipe.
Sign 2: Low Water Pressure
When you are turning on the tap or have the shower on full blast, you expect there to be a steady stream of water. However, if you instead find yourself with a slow dip or no water at all, there is definitely a problem. First, you need to check and make sure that the faucet or shower head isn’t just clogged up. If unclogging doesn’t fix the problem, then it is time to call in the professionals because it could be a damaged water heater or a burst pipe leaking.
Sign 3: Continuous Dripping
If you find that your sink or shower always seems to be dripping, there is an issue. It could be that the water pressure in your pipes is too high or that extra water is not being properly drained. However, it may also mean that the on/off settings on your taps or shower head is broken. While this can be a minor issue, it can cause some permanent damage.
Sign 4: Slow Drainage
Every homeowner has had to deal with a slowly draining sink or tub at some point in their life. While this can typically be fixed by using boiling water, a pipe snake, or certain cleaners, these methods may not always be successful. If you find that your pipe snake isn’t enough to fix up the drainage, then it could mean that you have a broken pipe or there is water pooling in your main drain. Still water can pose a huge health risk as it could cause mold growth behind the walls.
Sign 5: Water Will Not Stay Hot
Every hot water tank has a maximum capacity; if you end up using this up too quickly then you will need to wait more for water to heat up. However, if you turn on your shower for the first time in a day and the water quickly runs cold, then you have a problem. Typically, this means that you could have sprung a leak or it is no longer able to maintain a constant temperature. Either way, you should call up a professional for this repair.
Sign 6: Strange Colored Water
When water is coming out of the pipes, it should be clear. However, if you see another color coming out of the faucet, it is time for an immediate repair. White or cloudy might mean there is air in your pipes. Brown, red or yellow could mean rust. Green or blue will mean that the copper plumbing has become corroded.
