Before You Start Your Bathroom Remodel

A bathroom remodel can be costly and time consuming, but it yields great results. A bathroom is a place you will visit frequently in your own home, so it is always nice to enjoy your time spent in there. Before embarking on your remodeling journey, here are a few considerations that will get you started on the right track.
Ordering The Pieces
The first step in starting a bathroom remodeling project is to get everything ordered. Depending on the level of customization you are looking for in your new bathroom, pieces can take weeks and even months to arrive. There is nothing worse than tearing up your entire bathroom, only to realize that the new pieces won’t be arriving for weeks. Ordering early in the process will give you time to make sure everything gets to you before the planned start date.
Shower Storage
Think about how much storage you want to have in your shower. Do you use a lot of products when you shower or are you a shampoo-and-go type? This should probably be a factor in your plan. Also, how many people are going to be using the shower will be a good guide. If it is a guest bathroom, you may not have to worry about as much storage since it won’t be seeing daily use. If you only have one shower that everyone uses, you will want to find ways to include lots of storage.
You Shower Curtain Rod
Your shower curtain rod may seem like a small detail, but really it can determine how comfortable your shower is for everyone. First off, the material that the rod is made from can be metal or plastic. Metal rods look more high quality, but can sometimes have the tendency to rust in a steamy bathroom. Plastic rods tend to not last as long as metal rods, but do come in a lot of different colors to match your decor. Next, you will need to consider if you’d like a curved rod or a straight rod. A curved rod can give you some extra room in the shower, which is nice. But a curved rod needs to be drilled into the wall. A straight tension rod may be easier to install and cause less damage to your walls.
