How Long Will It Take To Remodel My Kitchen?

How Long Will It Take To Complete A Kitchen Remodel?

Because the kitchen is one of the single most used spaces in the home, one of the biggest concerns many have when considering a remodel is just how long their kitchen will be out of commission for. A family can only go so long not being able to use their current kitchen, but the proper planning can provide simple ways to work around issues and allow for a full remodel at the same time.

The first phase is the planning phase, which will be done at your pace and with full use of your kitchen still available. During this phase, you’ll be sharing your design ideas with your remodel professional, and this is a process that can take days, to weeks, to even months at your leisure. After the planning phase comes the design phase, when the professional takes your ideas and puts them all together, which is a process of a few days.

After the initial design, your design plans will begin to be finalized and the materials for your remodel ordered. This phase may take a couple of months depending on the materials desired and any mind-changes, and your kitchen will still be fully usable during this time.

Once the materials are in, the real fun will begin, and your remodel will start to take shape. Depending on what you may want done in your remodel, some portions of your kitchen will be off-limits during this time. Moving walls and changing windows will take up space in your kitchen for a couple of days to a couple of months, utilities changes may take a couple of days to a week or so, countertop installation will take 1 to 2 days, and flooring install will likely take 1 to 2 days as well.

While a kitchen remodel may create off-limits areas in the kitchen for a while, your kitchen will remain largely usable for the duration of your remodel experience. To learn more about what to expect from your kitchen remodel experience, contact us at Cardigan Kitchens and Baths today.
